I’ve been doing a bit of road biking recently, and one of the big fears is that you might have a mechanical breakdown miles from anywhere and struggle to get home. No such worries in Latvia, where taxi company Baltic taxi has converted four of it’s cars to accommodate bicycles.
The four cars that comprise the Bicycle Taxi service have roof racks to accommodate bicycle. So if you have a puncture, your chain breaks, crash or simply get caught in a thunderstorm, you can get home quickly and safely. The service could also prove useful for people wanting to take their bike to the local repair and servicing facility.
Cycling is on the increase, and many of the new cyclists are precisely the sort of people who will struggle if they hit a problem out on the road. This could be a relatively cheap way for any taxi or private hire company to differentiate itself from the competition.
